OHOPE PROGRESS
CIVIC consciousness is definitely awakening at the seaside settlement where is situated what is often described as the finest and safest ocean beach in the Dominion. The new spirit is engendered by the energetic efforts of the Ohope Progress League which is tackling with surprising vigour many of the old-established problems which have been shelved from time to time by past organisations. Primary place must be taken by the sealing of the frontage roadway serving historic 1 to 58. If the present interest is sustained it may well be that that particular problem will be solved before the winter is out. Other projects tackled by • the. League include the establishment of a modern school and the annexation of the first class sports and recreation area which was pioneered by the Caledonian Society. All in all the League appears to be furnishing the very sense of responsibility and enthusiasm which has been lacking at Ohope for all too long in the past. I
