WHAKATANE CLUB . The opening of the Whakatane Golf Club’s 1947 season was held last Saturday. The winners of the Mixed Canadian Foursome played over 18 holes were Mrs Combes and A. Powdrell with a score of 81—15£ —651, a very fine opening rounds The fixture for tomorrow is a Four Ball Best Ball Bogey competition in. which players are requested to choose their own partners and opponents. The lower handicap players are invited to take this opportunity of pairing off with longer markers as. far as possible.
