ACCIDENT AT PLAY

YOUNG BOY BURNED CAUGHT POWER LINES A remarkable escape from serious injury was experienced by Tommy Hitchins, son of Mr and Mrs H. Hitchins, of Toroa Street, when he was playing on the roof of the meeting house at Wairaka on Sunday. The boy, who is eight years old, apparently slipped, and in falling clutched at the power lines leading from the roof of the building. Mr T. Crapp who lives nearby, rushed out and called to the boy to jerk himself loose and he would catch him. This was done and the child was later admitted •to the Whakatane Public Hospital suffering from burns. His condition was not serious however. Had it not been for the presence of mind of Mr Crapp the accident might have been much more serious.
