EASTER BOWLING TOURNAMENT GOOD CONDITIONS ALL ROUND The Whakatane Bowling Club’s fourth Easter tournament reached its conclusion on Tuesday. Except for some rain on Good Friday the weather was good and the greens were in smooth running order. The results were as follows: “A” Section
Raglan (Pearce skip) 6 wins Whakatane (Hayward s) 6 wins Whakatane (Smoljan s) 5 wins Whakatane (Murphy s) 5 wins Claudelands (Mead s) 5 wins Hamilton E (Clague s) 4 wins Whakatane (Drube s) 4 wins Taneatua (Foster s) 4 wins Whakatane (Currah s) 3 wins Whakatane (Oswald s) 1 win “B” Section Tuakau (Vincent s) 8 wins Whakatane (Henderson s) 7 wins Hamilton (Barnard s) 7 wins Whakatane (Berg s) 6 wins Hamilton East (Fox s) 5 wins Taneatua (Lawn s) 4 wins Whakatane (Good s) 3 wins Patumahoe (Brown s) 2 wins Taneatua (Green s) 2 wins Whakatane (White s) 1 win Finals The finals which were played on Tuesday saw some excellent bowls played and the honours went to the Whakatane team skipped by W. Henderson. Results were:— First Round: Hayward defeated Pearce. Henderson, Barnard and Vincent, a bye. Semi-final: Hayward lost to Henderson and Barnard lost to Vincent. Final: Henderson defeated Vincent. The 'wining team was: J. Murphy, S. J. McKenzie, L. Littlejohn and W. Henderson (skip), Whakatane. The runners-up were: J. Kelly, G. Grouch, J. Pirett and L. R. Vincent (skip) Tuakau.
