YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS

OTAKIRI ACTIVITIES MARCH MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the March meeting of the Otakiri Y.F.C. Arrangements for a trip to the Whakatane Paper Mills were made. A letter of thanks was sent to the Women’s Institute thanking them for their help at the recent dance conducted by the Y.F.C. It was decided to forward another letter to the manager of the Matakina Paper Mills for making the field day such an interesting outing. The meeting closed early in order to allow the annual meeting to be held. Annual Meeting’ The first annua! meeting of the Otakiri Y.F.C. was held on March 26. In attendance were Mr K. White (District Chairman), Mr E. R. Marryatt (District Secretary) and Mr Kain of Waimana. Election of Officers

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr G .Murray Jr.; secretary, Mr J. Kerr; treasurer, Mr C. Le Lievre; reporter, Mr R. M. Dunning; advisory members, Messrs. O. Lord, R. W. Dunning, J. P. Caulfield and R. J. Barton; honorary members, Messrs. R. King and R. C. Leslie.

Mr Marryatt, who is to give an address on weed identification at the next meeting, contributed many helpful suggestions towards programmes for the coming year.
