DON’T WASTE POWER

WATCH that light switch ! Cut off that po\ver plug ! Don’t on any acount use any more electricity than is absolutely necessary. Whakatane has been threatened with further drastic daytime cuts unless the present wastage which is going on is rigidly curtailed. The position as fixed by the Load Controller at Hamilton is that Whakatane has been given a maximum load *«f 6794 units daily. On Monday 6140 were used, but this leapt up to 7410 on Tuesday and 7620 on Wednesday. Some 800 units in excess of the maximum load have been used and despite every effort to conserve by way of cutting down on waterheaters the steady rise continues. Further industrial cuts with very far-reaching effects upon the wage-earners of this town are inevitable unless the most stringent measures to conserve are exercised by every householder in the Borough.
