PERSONAL

We regret to record the death of Constable Robt. T. Thorn which occurred on Monday last following a protracted illness. The late Constable Thorn had many friends throughout the Whakatane district who will extend their deepest sympathy to his widow and family. The funeral takes place tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Flags flown at half mast yesterday throughout the Dominion, marked the death of Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, which occurred at Wellington early yesterday morning. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan had represented Avon for the past 28 years in the House of Representatives.
