ROD AND GUN CLUB

HALF-YEARLY CHAMPIONSHIP A POPULAR EVENT There was a splendid muster of sportsmen at the last meeting of the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club, which included the half-yearly championship as the main event. Good shooting was the order of the day and the Lodge Cup (championship) went to S. Kerr after a keen contest. Details were as under:— . Eyeopener, 5 birds: J. Tebbutt, W. Semmens, A. Mitchell, A. W. Jones, R. Fleming,- R. Bluett Senr., W. Gil-: lett all shot the possible. 10 Bird Sweep: S. Kerr and A. W. Jones shot the possible, while W. Davies and R. Ricketts shot 9 each. Limit Trophy, 10 birds: Open to shooters who had not won a trophy at any shoot. This was won by W. Davies with the possible. £25 Trophy Shoot, 10 birds: This was won with the possible by J. A. Parkinson. Second prize went to A. J. Brown after shooting off with J. Tebbutt and W. Semmens.

Senior Championship, "Lodge Cup" 15 birds: This was won by S. Kerr With 14 birds.

"Skeet" Championship, Kerr Bros. Cup: S. Kerr also won this event with 20 points out of the possible of 24 points. Farewell Sweep, 5 birds: W. Semmens and J. Plamus divided the stake after shooting the possible.
