AERODROME SITE

SANDHILLS PREFERRED PROPOSALS TO BE SUBMITTED A meeting of representatives of the Whakatane Borough Council, County Council and the Aero, and Gliding Club held on Tuesday, April 1, was attended by Messrs. L. W. Luxton (chairman), B. S. Barry, C. S. Armstrong, M. Leddie, J. Curtis, W. McCracken, T. H. Morgan, C. L. Jordan, C. H. Brebner, R. F. Morpeth, C. W. Good, H. G. Warren, L. D. Lovelock, H. C. McCready and R. Butler. The meeting was called with the view of submitting concrete proposals to the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Works, on his visit to Whakatane on April 18 and Sites Discussed A lengthy discussion on the suitability of the two sites took place and it was unanimously agreed that the sandhill site, on the western side of the river, was the only practical one. A committee consisting of Messrs. B. S. Barry, L. W. Luxton, T. H. Morgan, J. Curtis, L. D. Lovelock and C. H. Brebner was set up to prepare a report to present to the Minister oh his visit. This report will be published as soon as it is available.
