WEDDING BELLS
WALDEGRAVE—BROOKS A wedding of considerable interest took place at St. Peter's Church, Wellington, on Wednesday, March 26th at 6 p.m. The contracting parties were Pamela, only daughter of Mrs. L. A. Brooks of Wellington, and Charles Tansey, eldest son of Mrs. L. B. Smith of Te Teko, and the late Mr. Norman Waldegrave of Kaitieke. The officiating clergyman was the Ven. Archdeacon Rich.
A charming and unusual touch was added when the bride was given away by her twin brothers Messrs. Noel and Hal Brooks. She made a lovely picture in her gown of French chenile velvet, featuring the long bodice with full skirt and high neck' line. Her veil was mounted to a Juliet cap of pearls and she carried a white prayer book. She was attended by Miss Marie Summers, a school-girl friend, who looked charming in a gown and cap of white silk net with an underslip of hand-made lace. She carried a basket of delphiniums and roses. The briedgroom was attended by his brother, Flinders, as best man. During the signing of the register "O Perfect Love" was sung as a duet by the bride's cousin, Mrs. T. W. Stewart, of Waverley, and Shirley McKnight, of Ohingaiti. A reception at the home of the bride's mother, Brooklyn Road, was attended by some 100 guests from all parts of New Zealand, who were received by Mrs. Brooks in a model gown of black and white lace and a small toque of black and white georgette. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother who wore a frock of silver lame with a small toque of real flowers. For her going away outfit the bride chose a Harris tweed bluegreen tailored ensemble with brown accessories. Her future home will be at Te Teko, Bay of Plenty. The popular couple received numerous and varied wedding gifts including many substantial cheques, crystal and silver ware.
