Building Permits During the past month building permits have been issued within the Borough for 1 new residence, 2 additions, 3 sheds, 1 cottage and 1 new school room. The value of the above structures total in all £2,225. Tents as Homes The Borough Council has agreed to the erection of two further tents as temporary homes, on the application of Mr D. A. Smith, McGarvey’s < ' Road, until such time as a permanent house is built. The permit was granted subject to the approval of the Building and Health Inspectors. Control of Domain The question of formally taking over the control of the Whakatane* Domain from the existing Domain Board, which body has expressed its willingness to relinquish its administratory powers in favour of the Bporugh, has been held over pending further information from the Lands and Survey Department, as to the appropriate measures to be taken. f .;•
Formation of Access Paths Writing the Borough Council the Housing Department advised that owing to the cement shortage it has been decided to seal all access paths and inquiring whether the Council would be prepared to undertake the work and on what basis. The Council has resolved that Department be advised that it is unable to assist owing to a shortage of staff* and further that it is the Council’s experience that sealing is on account of the prevalence of couch and paspalum not desirable. Road Accident at Murupara
A collision occurred between a truck driven by Mr E. King, of Murupara, and Miss Kinder the District Nurse stationed at Murupara. Neither drivers was hurt. The accident occurred when Mr King was travelling to Te Whaiti on Tuesday night to screen pictures. Miss Kinder was returning / to Murupara after attending to her District Nurse’s duties. The Nurse’s car being damaged will affect the district temp'orarily.
