Long Career In Ministry
A career of more than 70 years in the ministry has ended with the death of the Rev. John at New Plymouth. Mr Nixon was the oldest minister of the Methodist Church of New Zealand at the time of his death having begun his ministry with the Wellington Primitive Methodist Church in 1875. Mr H. Nixon, formerly editor of the Waikato Times, is a son. Madame Winnie Fraser, of Dunedin, a prominent singer, is one of the four daughters. Section Values at Mt. Maunganui Instancing, the comparative values of building sections in Whnkatand with other neighbouring centres, Cr R. Morpeth at last Monday’s meeting of the Borough Council said that sections three miles from the township of Mount Maunganui were priced at £l5O, and were passed by the Land Sales Committee at that figure. The best sections in Whakatane were not permitted to go as high as that. (
