LANDING FIELD STILL REQUIRED INSTRUCTION AT TAURANGA In a circular to all members the secretary of the Whakatane Aero and Glider Club, Mr T. H. Morgan, states as under:Since the Department of Civil Aviation declined to re-license the temporary landing ground situated at Mr Luxton’s farm the Committee Members have combed the district in an endeavour to find a suitable area of land. The Flying Instructor of the Tauranga Club has co-operat-ed and on three occasions has come over to inspect properties. On the last visit he actually landed on a place behind the Whakatane Paper Mills which had been surveyed and measured up, but, as with other areas, it was too small for instructional flying.
In the meantime the club has become incorporated and with a large membership which continues to grow, has every indication of becoming very" strong. Arrangements have been made with the Tauranga Club to allocate certain periods each weekend for the benefit of members, who would be prepared to travel to the Tauranga aerodrome.
