INTER-SCHOOL SWIMMING
ANNUAL CARNIVAL HELD AT TE PUKE CLEAR-CUT WIN FOR TAURANGA J ■ * , The inter-secondary school swimming carnival was held recently at the Te Puke baths. This is an annual event held at Te Puke because of the unsuitability of the local baths, and it creates much interest among the Bay of Plenty schools. This year secondary schools from Waihi, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatane and Rotorua were represented. By strength of numbers, Tauranga Collegia had a clear-cut win, but this did not detract from the enjoyment of the day’s sport, with some very good performances by the other schools. The final points were:
Tauranga College, 115 points 1; Whakatane D.H. School, 70 points 2; Te Puke D.H. School, 63 points 3. Mr A. M. Nicholson (principal) extended his congratulations to the college swimmers who worthily represented the school on the visit to Te Puke.
The carnival was conducted most efficiently by the Te Puke officials. Results were:— v.
