FUNDS FOR BEAUTIFYING
IT 'has been pointed out to us by several residents, that Whakatane has failed to exploit its visiting showmen and entertainers for the benefit of its Beautifying Society,'as is done in other towns. It has become a growing practice in other centres, to not merely license travelling shows with a standard fee, but to impose an additional percentage on the door takings, which is devoted to the funds of the Beautifying Society. If this practice were followed out, we understand that since Christmas samething like £4O would have been made available. Here is a subject for Borough Council consideration.
