RACING NEWS & VIEWS

Sleepy Fox’s Chance It is understood in racing circles that the next appearance in public of the brilliant Sleepy Fox will be in the North Island Challenge Stakes at Trentham. Providing that he be allotted a sufficiency of life-handed work at Takanini he will take some heading off on the day. An Improving Winner Lord Revel, victor in the Hot Springs Handicap at Te Aroha, is now being selected as a likely candidate to account for the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie. So far he has won six races this season, and is still improving. Well Related Exemplary, winner of the Ju,venile Stakes at Egmont, is a halfbrother to the winners Donegal Bay, Good Bay and Behave, being by Broiefort—Good Conduct, whose pedigree goes back to the mighty Nelson, thrice winner of the Auckland Cup. High-grade Leading Lines In the pedigree of Calm Sea, victor in the Tararua Hack Handicap at Pahiatua, there are very fine leading lines, which should ensure the chestnut gelding being a rcaing success. He is by Theio—Seacourt, by Gainsborugh—Seabar by Advance— Seagull by St. Leger—Gannet by Anteros. The latter was the sire of winners in Auckland 60 years ago.
