“DANGEROUS CORNER”

COMING TO WHAKATANE On Thursday, March 20 Whitehall Productions, of London and Australia, will present their next N.Z. attraction, J. B. Priestley’s dramatic thriller “Dangerous Corner,” at the Grand Theatre. The Company will be remembered for their fine performance here recently in “Love In Idleness,” but this visit will mark the first appearance here of those two versatile English performers Rod Douglas and Gordon Chater.

The “Dunedin Star” of 13/12/46 said: “The Whitehall'presentation of J. B. Priestley’s 'Dangerous Corner’ is unusually satisfying. The drama itself makes exacting demands on interpretation and technique. Priestley drives a group of charming people, gathered together in a draw-ing-room, to reveal the sordid tangle of their pasts. Since their revelations cover every aberration of human conduct, the play holds the perilous stuff of unpleasant melodrama. Priestley, however, drew his characters with sympathy as well as skill, and the Whitehall Company l’ecognises this vital point. Richard Parry, who produced ‘Dangerous Corner,’ has plotted the intricate pattern of emotion with success—and how admirably it is played.” Box plans are now open at Armstrong’s.
