PARKING NUISANCE

OHOPE HOSTEL COMPLAINT In a letter to the County Council the proprietress of the Ohope Hostel requested that an area in front of and adjacent to the Hostel be declared a “No Parking” area. On dance nights it was very congested the cars being parked along and on the footpath from the Hostel to the tennis courts adjacent to the . Captain’s Cabin, necessitating that pedestrians walk on the roadway. Guests at the Hostel had been compelled to leave their cars out owing to the entrance being blocked. The drinking that went on in this area was very disturbing and was detrimental to business. There was a real need for the police to be stationed at Ohope during the holiday season especially on dance nights. The application was referred to Cr McCready and the County Engineer with power to act.
