ON THE BOWLING GREENS WHAKATANE CLUB ' The continued fine weather has given the bowling game a splendid fillup and the greens at Apanui have been in constant demand. Over the weekend the following local games were played:— Stewart, Gerring and Thompson 21 beat Sumner, White and Dixon 18.
Murphy King and Hollis 26 beat Sims, Grant and Tippett 11: McCowan, Wilson, Hayward and Hollis 15 beat-Hay, Dainton, Davis and Howat 11.
Bullot, A. King, Butler and McIsaac 23 beat Dredge, White, Shaw and Burgess 20.
Campbell, Salmon, Bennett and Drube 24 beat McGill, Brown, Wilson and Loane 9. Smith Stars Shapley, Caisley, Murphy/ and Henderson (challengers) 28 beat Compton, Rutherford, Coates and Smoljan (holders) 20. Champion Singles 6th Round: Good beat Morpeth; Smoljan beat Coates; Berg beat Oswald. Semi-final: Berg beat Morpeth; Good beat Smoljan. Final: Good beat Berg. n Good will represent Whakatane Champion of Champions competitions at Te Puke on Saturday Bth.
