Street Paving Problems
“Supply of machinery is the greatest difficulty we face in our street paving today,” said the chairman of the Works Committee of the Dunedin City Council, Cr. L. J. Ireland, to a meeting of ratepayers and residents of Anderson’s Bay. “There is no prospect of getting any for 15 to 18 months, and there is not much prospect of the shipping position improving.”
Yodelling Cowboy’s Visit Mr Donn Reynolds, whose performances in the Regent and Grand Theatres last Friday met with such spontaneous applause, must be regarded as one of the oustanding performers as a cowboy yodeller, ever to visit Whakatane. That he is a master of his art was demonstrated by his wide range and the comparative ease with which he handled the most difficult passages. Garbed in traditional cowboy rig with never absent Spanish guitar, Mr Reynolds gave a delightful performance and the interludes at both theatres were warmly welcomed by the audience as a distinct asset to the programme.
