W.D.F.U.
MEETING AT TE TEKO The February meeting of the Te Teko branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the hall on February 11. Mrs Pryor opened the meeting with the reading of the Creed and afterwards welcomed three new members. Mesdames Nation, Webber and Murray. A letter of thanks was received from the United Orphanages for donations received and it! was decided that later in the year a donation would be forwarded to the Sunshine House for blind children. A letter was received from Mr Sullivan of the Te Puke Provincial re the proposal to hold inter-provin-cial meetings every six months. As the meeting was in favour of this proposal Mrs Thomas was appointed delegate. Mesdames Carr, Pryor and Hendl were appointed delegates to the Provincial meeting to be held in Whakatane on March 26.
Mrs Pryor then gave a most interesting and excellent demonstration of flax mat making which was very much appreciated by members. The roll call ‘Limericks’ proved very amusing and to the credit of members it must be recorded that the humour was well within the bounds of decision. The competition of a hanging billy decorated for effect brought only one entry from Mrs A. Jamieson whose entry was much admired. The best bloom was won by Mrs Hallett with Mrs Butler secon. The bring and buy stall netted the sum of £1 2s 4d. Afternoon tea concluded a very pleasant afternoon.
