WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT EDGECUMBE • The February meeting of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute was held recently in the Presbyterian Hall, Mrs H. Carter presiding over a good attendance of members and friends. Several apologies were received from absent members and two new members were enrolled and welcomed to the Institute. The minutes of the previous meet- ' ing were read and confirmed, after which correspondence was dealt with. Nominations for the new' committee were received. The roll call, “Suggestions for the next year’s programme” brought forth many interesting suggestions. Mrs Malpas read Mrs Barnicoat’s letter to members from the Home and Country Journal. Miss Webber delighted her audience , with two humorous recitations and was heartily applauded. The hostesses for the day served a dainty afternoon tea which was much appreciated. There was a display of lovely soft toys and many members took copies of the patterns available.
