CALL ANSWERED

LOCAL ST. JOHN MEMBER AT ROTORUA At the N.Z. Freshwater Speedboat Championships held in Rotorua on Saturday, a young man, well known locally, whose parents live in Edgecumbe, sustained three fractured ribs when his boat came into collision with another competitor. Mr Eric Ramson of the Whakatane St. John Ambulance Brigade, responded to the call for assistance and rendered efficient First Aid until the young man was removed to the Rotorua Hospital. Full particulars of the accident are not to hand but apparently another boat, appropriately named “Satan” collided at speed with Mr Simpson’s craft, tearing away the whole side where he was sitting. The .injured man was removed from the boat unconscious two minutes before she sank.
