WAIMANA NUKUIIOU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women’s Institute was held in the Waimana Hall recently. There was a good attendance of members, Mrs Wylde presiding in the absence of Mrs F. Savage. Mrs Wylde asked members to stand in silence as a gesture of sympathy to Mrs F. Savage and family in view of their recent bereavement. Books and magazines were handed in for the local hospital. Mrs Mitchell, of Auckland, kindly demonstrated the making of a painted bouquet, and this demonstration likewise proved most interesting. The nominations for the new committee were handed in, and the president for 1947-48 was elected in Mrs Reuben Looney. - The arrangements for the show were discussed. The competitions for the day were well entered for and Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Neithe of Aucklan, kindly acted as judges. The results were as follows: Best single flower, Miss F. Woolfield 1; Mrs H. Bell 2; Mrs Stevehson 3. Best double flower, Miss Woolfield 1; Mrs Hampton Snr. 2; Mrs H. Bell 3. Best cabbage, Mrs F. Bell 1; Mrs Hewitt 2; Miss Woolfield 3.
