PLUNKET ACTIVITIES

WHAKATANE BRANCH MEETS SERVICE TO OHOPE The February meeting of the Whakatane branch of the Plunket Society took place last week. Present: Mesdames Cairns (President), Caisley, Debreceny, O’Rourke, Roach and Knight. Apologies were received from Mesdames Patterson, Jessop, Morpeth and Zinsli. Nurse Armstrong was granted leave of absence to attend the New Zealand Registered Nurses Annual Conference in Auckland during March as delegate of the local branch. During Miss Armstrong’s absence Sister Harding will be on call at the hospital for urgent cases. A suitable room has been secured at Ohope for use by the Plunket Nurse and it is hoped this will be in use within the next few weeks. At the Annual General Conference of the Society held recently in Wellington it was decided that representations be made to the Minister of Supply that adequate supplies of coarse flannel and allied woollen materials for - children’s wear be made available. The Borough Council granted permission to hold the Society’s Annual Street Appeal on November 21 next. Preliminary arrangements were made for the Garden Party to be held at Mrs Knights’ residence on March 13.

The Nurse’s reports for December and January were received.
