TOWN WATER SUPPLY

RECENT notices in this paper have issued a warning to householders against the use of hoses in gardens and the need for conserving water generally. This brings swiftly to mind the problem facing the Borough Council in the coming year—water supply; a problem involving anything between £20,000 and £30,000. Ratepayers will readily grasp the fact that with the steady growth of Whakatane such a badly-needed improvement must be faced squarely, and with an eye to the future. The present shortage furnishes but another argument for the urgent need to grapple with the new scheme, finalise it and put it quickly into operation. We hope this will be in the early part of 1947.
