A Housing Problem
A pai’ty of tourists was being shown round the thermal area at Orakei-Korako last week. Pointing to some geysers on the other side of the Waikato River the guide said: “We cannot go there, the land belongs to an aged Maori. He and his family live in that tiny cottage you can see there. There are fourteen living in that place.” Quickly one of the sightseers asked: “Gosh, have you got a housing problem here, too?”
