DANCE AND SOCIAL
FUNCTION AT MURUPARA A large gathering of residents of the Galatea and Murupara district attended a social evening and dance by the local branch of the National Party in honour of Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. Mr Sullivan was making his initial visit to the district since his being returned to Parliament. Mr J. Wilson on behalf of the National Party, and Mr G. Cawte, on behalf of the R.S.A., welcomed Mr Sullivan. Mr Sullivan in replying apologised on behalf of Mrs Sullivan for her unavoidable absence. He thanked the residents for the enjoyable function and their confidence in him. He considered the future prospects of the district very bright and that numerous demands for improved services and facilities must come forward in increasing numbers as the district rapidly expanded.. In concluding Mr Sullivan assured the district he would assist them in their demands in every possibly manner. Dancing and items continued to a late hour being enjoyed by the large gathering.
