FARMERS FEDERATION PROBLEMS

Sir, —We who have been in a farming organisation for many years and given so much of our time and thought in an endeavour to build a strong united farmers organisation, are pleased that the leaders and members of the Bay Province have at last joined in with a Dominion organisation of which we in Auckland Province of Federated Farmers are members, and have been for some time. We do not like the methods employed in the attempt to split the farmers into even smaller groups and consider that it is foolish and will be very expensive; that is what we think in the light of our experience and knowledge!

As the conditions under which the plebiscite was to be taken were not carried out in our estimation (proved by sworn statements) and seeing that so many of our members have repeatedly stated that they do not wish to be divorced from Auckland Province of the Dominion organisation and will not do so, being convinced that we the farmers can be best served both from a strength and financial point of view also being desirous of continuing our association with the co-operative movements which Auckland stated and wishing to defend the same in the future. We are remaining where wf are as agreed with Wellington many months ago. We know that Auckland will continue to work as a united part of the whole to place Auckland's point of view at Wellington with a strong team of tried men. We stand for c'o-operation. which is true private enterprise and producer control.

R. W. DUNNING.
