DOMINION-WIDE TOUR The first major overseas show to be brought to New Zealand is the London revue success, ‘Watch Your Step” company, and starring Joe Lawman, Australia’s foremost comedian. This brilliant and versatile company of overseas variety stars will be presented by Ophir Rees in the Grand Theatre, Whakatane, on Wednesday, February 5 for one night only. The show moves at an exhilarating pace, and has all the ingredients of success; good music, plenty of comedy, clever dancing, and a number of amazing specialty acts, which include Royston, triple-voiced ventrioquist, Jandy, the musical clown, the Siscos, juggling wizards, the Morrell Trio, yodellers to the accordion, Jarrett, novelty entertainer, Le Harley, the merry magician, Eileen Bourke, singing violiniste and Joy Robins, dashing comedienne and soubrette. Vocally the show is very strong, with Adele Taylor, sopano, Maurice Tansley, tenor, Sherry, swing songstress and Ophir Rees. A full orchestra is also featured. Box plans for the Bay of Plenty premiere performance in the Grand Theatre, Whakatane, will open on Thursday morning at Armstrong’s Bookshop.
