Supplying of Liquor
Two Maoris Johnny Bishop and Johnny Goldsmith were both fined £2 and costs 21s and 30s in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court yesterday for assisting some person or persons unknown in the commission of an offence, to wit, supplying a native with liquor for consumption off licensed premises. Both pleaded guilty to having the liquor in their possession but had refused to divulge where it came from. Another Maori, Pai Renata who was found drunk on the State Highway at Matata on December 20 was fined 10s and costs 275.
