WAR TROPHY CONFISCATED

The fact that a Maori boy was seen to be wearing in his belt an American service revolver at Poroporo led to the prosecution of William Ranapia in the Whakatane Court yesterday ,# for possessing an unregistered firearm in contravention of the ‘Arms Act.’

Sergeant Farrell said that the weapon had been brought back from the war by a relative of the accused who had given it to him. Accused came of quite a respectable family. Fined 20s and costs 225.
