WHAKATANE CLUB MEETING FIRST FOR 1947 The opening day of the new season of the above club was held at the Whakatane Domain on Saturday January 11. Details of the results were as under: — 50yds Dash: B. McGougan 1, C. Burke 2, D. Carling 3. 75yds Ladies: Miss Mexted and Miss Chadwick 1, Miss Grant 2. 50yds Boys under 12: G. Parkinson 1, R. Oswald 2, Bill Rowson 3. Senior One Mile: J. Chadwick 1, B. Knight 2, G. Dines 3. Senior 880: R. Dawson 1, B. Knight 2, C. Burke 3. Senior 220: J. Chadwick 1, J. Taylor 2, McGougan, D. Carling 3. Ladies 120: P. Chadwick 1, I. Grant 2, B. Mexted 3. An evening meeting will be held at the Whakatane Domain on Wednesday, January 15, commencing at 6.30. All athletes who wish to make the trip to the Waikato Championships must attend this meeting. Club coaches S. Carter and D. Morpeth will be on hand to instruct and help all athletes.
