The comedian, Bert Lahr, once told Ruth Chatterton that he wanted to play a romantic lead opposite her. “But, Bert, you have grey hair,” objected the actress. “Well,” snorted Lahr, “just because there’s snow on the roof, don’t think there’s no fire inside.”
