SUCCESSFUL DANCE

WHAKATANE TENNIS CLUB ENTERTAINS

A successful dance was sponsored by the Whakatane Tennis- Club in the Caledonian Hall last Thursday evening. A large crowd of patrons filled the hall, and the financial" return to the club was very .satisfactory. •'

Although the dance was the first such function sponsored by the club, if was remarkably well run, and dancers without exception had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Freddie Burt’s Band supplied the music, whilst Mr L. D. 'Lovelock, in • the capacity of M.C. kept the varied programme running with excellent continuity. The attractive posters and other decorations which were placed at appropriate intervals round the hall served to brighten the atmosphere considerably. At a suitable interval, Mr P. Bryers, Club President, extended thanks to the many patrons who had made the night a success by their attendance. It was hoped, he said, to hold two suph events each year, to more or less mark the opening and the closing of the season. He trusted that all those present that night would participate in future dances sponsored by the club. . A very tasty supper was served; Miss N. West played a very enjoyable extra, and dancing concluded at a late hour.
