Dear Sir,

Letters to the Editor must be clearly written on one side of the paper only and where a nom-de-plume is used the name of the writer must be included for reference purposes. The Editor reserves the fight to abridge, amend or withhold any letter or letters.

MAORIS AND VOTING

Sir, —May I be allowed to say that all these oil the Maoris and voting seem exaggerated, and I think until they are actually proved to be doing such things as plural, and perhaps triple voting such 1 “flair-raising” rumours as a truck load of Maoris passing between four booths should be swallowed with a drop of N water. Who ever saw the truck load go to all those booths and let them get away with it should be as much to blame, as surely a report in the proper direction would have brought these “so-called early and often” voters, to a well-deserved punishment. But rumours and rumours only it seems persist a writer in the N.Z. Herald said “in fairness to the National Party,” but I think irrespective of party in fairness to the honest Maori voters and there are thousands of lis, these rumours should be substantiated and if proved the guilty few should suffer as we feel that nothing can be so degrading or low as dirty tactics to get ones members back into Parliament. No amount of explanations can excuse a plural voter but until they are proved this term should not be used too often or too much, as there are more honest Maori political fighters in our Maori race than otherwise, and we resent the stigma which until the actual “rumour suspects” are nailed down must include all honest and well meaning electors irrespective of where they may have voted and travelled afterwards. Yours etc., tW. BIDDLE-COLLIER.

GOLD AND BONDAGE

Sir, —We'have had within the last few weeks a strong hint that there is to be a further rise in the price of gold. The first question I would ask is, who, controls the world*? gold? And the next, why base food production and amenities of life on an image (gold) and'cry “Oh Baal, hear us,” as the owner of the world’s gold did in ancient history, and. are still doing, so to speak, to the detriment of the gentile of the present day. However the point is, are we to be dictated to, as to the price of gold on production whilst it is a physical possibility to produce our requirements (or even luxuries) and circulate that production by an internal paper currency, which nan be free from those outside influences which are dictating costs and manipulating food supplies. Now, every rise in gold costs, reduces the value of present-day sterling. This is the king pin of the Jewish plot to subjugate the British Empire. If you do not want to become the slave subject of the hierarchy of Wall (Street then you must see to it that the Bretton Woods Pact is not signed. Are you going to accept such a lousy trick to reduce the people of the British Empire to servility and want when the general necessities of life can be produced? When you realise that, those things , physically possible, can be made financially possible without producing national debt, you will arrive at common sense,, and demand your share of production, free of national debt. Yours etc., W. BRADSHAW.,

POLITICS AND RELIGION

Sir,—l wish people would' not write letters to the Press which require to be answered. Of course you Sir, have implied in your footnote that “Just Thoughts” are not sent in by the Church, but I wish to make it clear to all that, neither the Ministers, nor the Churches are responsible. We are well, aware that our people are by no means all supporters of one party, whatever “Challenge” may think or say; So there you are Mr Challenge! Now do the decent thing—apologise, and sign your name at the end of your communication. Yours etc., H. HOGG, (Sec. Ministers’ Assn.)
