WAR MEMORIAL SUGGESTIONS •-\ ‘ ■ ; A' public meeting, convened by the Taneatua Hall Committee, was held in the Taneatua Hall recently to receive and discuss suggestions for a War Memorial. • It was decided that Taneatua should have its own District War Memorial and a suggestion from the Hall Committee that the Taneatua Hall be improved and enlarged and' converted into a Community Centre was outlined by Mrs Semmens and discussed by the meeting. After several speakers had voiced their opinions it was decided that the meeting be called an “Eye-open-er” meeting and that a further meeting be held on the second Monday in February, 1947, to enable -those present to consider the . tentative plan already submitted and to bring forward any further suggestions for consideration, together with plans and estimates.

A sub-committee was appointed to draw up plans and go into the estimated cost of the suggestion brought forward by the committee
