WOMEN’S INSTITUTE GARDENING CIRCLE \ ■ The November meeting of the Waimana Women’s Institute gardening circle was held at the home of Mrs J. Mitchell. The attendance of members was excellent, and Mrs King presided. - Mrs Woolfield explained modern floral decorations for corners etc. The growing of celery was also discussed.
A competition (a memory test) was arranged by Mrs Mitchell, Mrs Wylde and Mrs G. Mitchell being the winner. After afternoon tea members viewed the neatly kept garden and flower gardens. The next meeting is at Mrs R. White’s home and the competition will be a decorated dinner plate: The days competitions were as follows: ' - Jazz bowl of flowers: Mrs Woolfield 1, Mrs J. Mitchell 2, Mrs G. Mitchell 3. Best flower: Mrs J. Mitchell 1, Mrs G. Mitchell 2, Mrs King 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Hampton 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs Hughes 3. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs King thanked Mrs Mitchell for the pleasant afternoon spent • and also the hostesses.
