CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOTS

WHAKATANE CLUB EVENT OUTSIDERS CLAIM TROPHIES Outsiders claimed all the trophies with the exception of the ones offered in the Open event (donated by Cutler’s Hardware • Ltd.) at the Championship Shoots sponsored by the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club last Sunday. There was a good attendance of sportsmen, but a tricky wind made good shooting difficult, and average results only, were recorded. Otherwise, perfect conditions prevailed, and the large number of visiting shooters present were not disappointed. Following were the results in detail:— Eyeopener (5 birds): A. J. Brown Ist with the possible, W. Mayo, O. Mayo, R. Stephenson, A. Jones divided 2nd money. Ten Bird Sweep: W. Kenyon Ist with 10 birds, C. Hartley 2nd with 9 birds, A. J. Brown 3rd with 8 birds. Junior Championship (Rivett Shield): C. Hartley (Tauranga). Trophy Shoot: Mr A. Powdrell (Radio), Mr W. Costello (Leather Suitcase). Senior Championship (Lodge Cup): A. J. Brown (Rotorua). “Skeet” Championship (Kerr Bros Cup): A. J. Brown.Five Bird Sweep: J. A. Parkinson won with the possible. Eight shooters divided the stake for 2nd. Special Trophy Shoot (5 birds) for a trophy donated by A. J. Brown: J. Plamus 1, A. Powdrell 2. Box Shoot off 24yds (first miss disqualifies): W. Costello Ist with 2 birds.
