ART EXHIBITION
NEXT WEEK’S DISPLAY On Wednesday, 4th December the recently iormed Community Arts Service brings the first of its productions to Whakatane. Like C.E.M.A. in England during y the war, it plans to take music drama, art and ballet to the country towns, and among the artists and companies promised for early next year are the pianist, Lili Kraus, the Goodwin Marionette Theatre, Repertory Ballet Theatre, the singer Stewart Harvey, and a drama company. ■ v, , On 4th December C.A.S. stage an Art Exhibition in the . Caledonian Hall. This exhibition includes work in oil, water-colour, lino-cuts, pen-' cil, ink, wash and lithographs. The artists whose work is represented include such well-known, names as Lois White, Eric Lee-John-ston, John Weeks, Bessie Christie, Lincoln Lee, Jean Farquharson, Jack Crippen, Peggy Spicer, Air ini Vane. Of the tour of this exhibition the New Zealand Free Lance says: “It was an outstanding success, the experience at Dargaville, where the hall was packed within 10 minutes of the opening, being typical of other northern towns.”
The Exhibition is sponsored by the local C.A.S. Committee.
