FOUR MAORI SEATS YESTERDAY’S ELECTION RESULTS All sitting members for. the four Maori seats were returned \in yesterday’s Maori election, thus giving Labour four seats in the new Parliament. Details were:— Northern Maori: T. P. Paikea (Lab.) 5353; J. Henare (Nat.) 2911.

Western Maori: H. T. Ratana (Lab.) 8962; H.‘ Marumaru (Nat.) 2664; R. Amohanga (Ind.) 186. Eastern Maori: T. Omana (Lab.) 7116; Sir Apirana Ngata (Nat.) 5465. (1943 Election: Omana 5272, Ngata 5024). Southern Maori: E. T. Tirikatene (Lab:) 796; V. O. M. Thomas (Nat.) 267.
