BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED

MISS JEANNE GROVER THE GUEST

In honour of the then forthcoming marriage a popular gift evening was held in the Waimana Hall recently, for Miss Jeanne Grover. There was a large gathering of friends present, and the evening was spent at dancing. The Waimana orchestra supplied the music and Mr A. Bell obliged with the supper extra. Mr D. White, during the function, on behalf of all present asked Miss Grover and Mr McKenzie to come forward and accept the many gifts, with the best wishes of all present. Mr McKenzie on behalf of Miss Grover, thanked all for the gifts and the most enjoyable, evening given them. Mr R. Bell acted as M.C. The dancing ended at a late hour and the playing of the National Anthem closed the function.

FAREWELL DANCE MR AND MRS CURIIAM POPULAR WAIMANA EVENT A farewell dance was held last Thursday evening for Mr and Mrs C. Curham and family in. the Waimana Hall. The hall was well filled with friends of the guests. The dance music was played by the Waimana orchestra, and Mr Angus acted as M.C. The extras were played by Mr Malcolm Burke. The confetti and other novelty dances proved most popular, Mr and Mrs Mortenson and Mr Angus and partner were the winners of the novelty dances. After a dainty supper had been served, Mr Leather called on the guests to come forward and accept a cheque from the many friends in Nukuhou North and Waimana. Mrs Wylde also presented Mrs Curham with a bouquet of sweet peas and carnations, and a silver mounted breadboard from the ladies of the district, conveying the best wishes from all present for a happy and prosperous time on their new farm at Pukehina. Mr Curham in reply thanked all for the gifts and pleasant evening. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem closed the function.
