EMPLOYMENT SURVEY
RETURNS FOR OCTOBER
BAY OF PLENTY AREA
The District Employment Officer, Mr J. McGlone, advised today that the work of compiling information from the half-yearly Returns of Employment Information due as at the 15th October, was well advanced, and employers generally were cooperating in every possible way. All returns had not yet come to hand, but it was hoped to have them all in within the next week or so.
Figures relating to the initial group have now been finalised. This group, which comprises bread bakeries, cake kitchens, pastrycooks, and aerated water manufacture, concerns 22 units operating in the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty area. The total pay-roll strength as at the date of the Return, that is the 15th October last, was 103, comprising 57 males and 46 females, and compared with a total, at the date of the previous survey of the 15th of last April, of 93, comprising 50 males and 43 females, shows an overall increase in employees at the later period of 10. Vacancies exist in this group for 6 males and 1 female. The District Employment Officer concluded by saying that the figures for the next Group, comprising clothing, leather, and' miscellaneous manufacturing industries, would be available in about another week’s time.
