A MIRACLE OF ACHIEVEMENT

ARRESTING, substantial and attractive, the recently completed St. John Ambulance Association hall in King Street, Whakatane, represents the full realisation of a dieam which has fired the enthusiasm of the local branch of this , fine organisation over the past few years. Its official opening tomorrow afternoon is dedicated to the public of Whakatane which has from the outset generously supported the drive for funds and the various appeals for materials and labour. A general invitation is extended, therefore to the residents of town and district whose generosity and practical help made the erection of the hall possible. The structure, an exceedingly handsome one, will take its place as one of the town’s best buildings oh a semi-public type. Its erection, over the difficult past three years represents

a miracle of achievement, which has been mainly due to the indefatiguable work of a comparatively few stalwarts to whose zeal the hall will be a lasting monument as the headquarters of one of the most idealistic services humanity has known. Tomorrow’s official opening means an invitation to one and all, and there is no reason why tfie assembly should not be a record one.
