TALKING CAT
8.8. C. RECORDING
Britain’s only talking cat has recorded for the 8.8. C.
Perched on the knee of its owner, Major Webber, a hotel proprietor of Seaford, Sussex the cat, Peter Pan, was asked, “Tell the gentleman we are in great danger from the sea.” The cat replied in an rhythmic tone what onlookers interpreted as “Wdt, no sea wall, chum?” The 8.8. C. commentator, Stephen Grenfell, later remarked, “Having taken the record of a talking dog, and now a talking cat, I have seen and heard everything that I don't want to see and hear again.”
