Blue Noses
Du to a sudden and totally unexpected cold snap in the weather last Friday, blue noses were a common decoration among townspeople and shoppers in the Strand. A sharp rainstorm which occurred in the middle of the afternoon further lowered the temperature, and by 5 p.m., even the most hardened polar veterans could not help remarking on the frigidity of the atmosphere, to their associates. Hopes for a fine w T eek end to follow were dashed when a strong wind inflicted its presence on the district and blew throughout Saturday and Sunday, making both days definitely not ones for a picnic. The grand finale and climax to Act 3 was the sharp frost on Monday morning which sought out numbers of gardens, and last but not least, the beautifully fine and calm day, the first working day of the week. Wouldn’t it! !
