PERSONAL
Congratulations were extended by the Mayor to Messrs. F. W. Lysaght and W. S. Henderson last Monday evening on their appointment to the New Zealand Registered Engineers Association.
A well known sporting personality, Earl McCready, spent several days in the Whakatane district during the past week. He has been staying with Mr and Mrs Sad, of Wainui.
Mr and Mrs E. H. Scott, of Nelson, and formerly of Chicago, U.S.A., payed a flying visit to Whakatane last Monday and Tuesday, staying at the Commercial Hotel. Mr Scott was for many years a resident in the United States where he was the head of a great business undertaking, and where, during the recent wartime years, he rendered unique services to the Dominion, acting as host to many New Zealand servicemen. Mr Scott, who is an expert in colour cinematography was impressed with the number of sites which he was able to inspect in this town and made a camera record cf several.
