McGlone, Manpower Officer for Bay of Plenty, we Were informed yesterday that in response to an urgent appeal from the Taranaki cheese factories for staff, no less than 56 Maori men volunteered to leave their hdmes and join up with the factories concerned. The men- came mainly from the Eastern Bay, and after several weeks of work were reported by all managers to be doing an excellent job of work.
