SNOOKER
TROPHY CONTESTS
A tournament for the Hanwright Junior Snooker Shield is now in progress in Mr J. Hanwright's Billiard Saloon, Whakatane. So far 17 games have been played and the second round which will find the semi-finalists will commence tonight. The games in the second round are as follows:
E. Crapp v E. Hunt; R. Schou v A. Tan; J. Baker v J. Skelton; B. Hudson -v D. Kahua; T. Reid v J. Lafferty; F. Malmanche v K. Martin; D. Howat v P. Amone; A. Linwood v M. Merito; C. Reid v winner of S. Butcher and Biddle.
The first trophy is a handsome Shield donated by a number o f sportsmen of Whakatane and will be competed for twice yearly. The runner-up will receive a Miniature Cup suitably engraved. Three frames of snooker are played, the winner having the best two out of the three.
