ALLOWANCE EXTENDED
REHABILITATION BURSARS Special provision has now been made to assist full-time rehabilitation bursars for a short period following the close of the academic year. This is announced in a statement from the Rehabilitation Board, Much says the form the assistance will take is an extension of up to 14 days of the normal subsistence allowance paid during the course of the bursary, generally about 37 weeks. Bursars for whom provision has been made fall into two groups. The first comprises full-time bursars who do not have a position to go to when the academic year ends and who find it necessary to seek employment for the period of the long vacation. In the second group are fulltime bursars who are obliged to leave their employment before the commencement of the new academic year in order to proceed to a University centre to arrange accommodation. In both cases subsistence allowance will be paid up to a maximum period of 14 days. The Board considered that both these periods were difficult ones for many students and that a subsistence allowance as outlined would give them reasonable opportunity of making suitable arrangements.
